Photobook Magazine’s co-owner and creative director, Mike Ruiz, captured the strength and timeless beauty of Vanessa Williams for the cover of the magazine’s May issue, being released April 25th pegged to the release of Vanessa Williams’ new music single “Legs” and its video, directed by Ruiz.

“For the cover of the magazine, hair stylist to the stars, Chuckie Amos, and I wanted to draw on cultural elements and bring them to life,” explains Ruiz. “The images inside of the magazine were intended to show a range of looks and characters that Vanessa can effortlessly embody.”

“This next wave of Vanessa Williams promises to be the best of her career: physically, creatively and professionally,” Ruiz continues. He calls her new music single “an uplifting dance track that will have pop cultural relevance for a long time to come.”

Check out a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the “Legs” video below:

We’re super excited for Vanessa Williams’ latest chapter — especially since this album is coming out on her very own label Mellian Music. Talk about talented. She’s a boss and a triple threat.

She also sweetly sang Mike Ruiz’s praises about their latest collaboration.

“The insanely talented Mike Ruiz has not only been a dear friend for years but his talented creations have been evident in much of my career,” says Ms. Williams. “Mike shot my book cover for You Have No Idea, plus publicity shots, magazine features, directed videos and most importantly, he has directed my latest single video, ‘Legs’. So proud that we still are going strong together!”

The pair met in 2008 when Ruiz was commissioned to shoot the celebrated singer, actress, model, producer, and dancer for the cover of USA Weekend.

“I was so nervous because not only is Vanessa Williams a legend and an icon but I couldn’t get Wilhelmina Slater (Williams’ character in the TV series, Ugly Betty) out of my head,” Ruiz, whose own list of credits is impressive, explains.

In addition to heading Photobook Magazine, Ruiz is the creative director and principal photographer for multiple versions of L’Officiel Fashion Book. His celebrity photo clients include Anne Hathaway, Jared Leto, Kelly Clarkson, Kim Kardashian West and Nicki Minaj among others.

Suspected #RHOA Returner Shereé Whitfield Poses Alongside Simon Guobadia & Sparks Martell Holt...

Shereé Whitfield’s most recent Instagram post is causing commotion amid Porsha Williams fans wondering why the housewife posed with Williams’ estranged husband. Not only that, but fans also noticed a flirtatious comment from Shereé’s ex Martell Holt on social media.

On April 23, the 54-year-old star sparked a firestorm of speculation across social media after she was photographed posing alongside Guobadia, entrepreneur Rozina Negusei, and V-103 personality Mix Master David on the Nigerian business guru’s Instagram page.

“Great breaking bread with good and loyal friends,” the 59-year-old captioned the photo.

Whitfield was additionally seen in a subsequent photo with Neguesei and Guobadia, accompanied by the caption;

“A good time was had. Good people.”

It’s unclear how long Whitfield and the SIMCOL petroleum CEO have been chilling, but their recent outing had RHOA fans talking up a storm in the comments section. A few users pondered whether the duo’s friendship would be uncovered in detail in the forthcoming season of the hit series.

Oh, so that’s how we’re doing things, eh? Season 16 can’t come soon enough,” wrote one user.

A second netizen commented, “Shereé you ain’t slick boo!”

A third user chimed in, “Porsha vs Shereé……this season is going to be lit.”

Some users also pondered if she was dating Williams’ estranged husband.

Shereé is desperate. She’ll take anything!” penned a user named @ketlydevilme.

Who Is Confirmed To Return To Season 16?

Whitfield hasn’t confirmed whether she will be returning to Season 16 of RHOA, but during an interview with Zachary Reality in February, the housewife expressed that she would be “open to returning for another season.” She also said she would love to see a few “fresh faces” featured on Season 16 of the hit Bravo series.

As of now, Porsha Williams and her co-star Kenya Moore are reportedly set to return to the reality TV franchise. #RHOA OG’s Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton will not return. The status of previous stars like Drew Sidora and Sanya Richards-Ross remains uncertain.

According to a 2023 report from The Jasmine Brand, Bravo insiders suggested that only a maximum of three current peach holders would likely receive a return contract, which could result in changes to the lineup of housewives. A few new stars are allegedly set to appear in the forthcoming series but due to budget constraints, insiders claimed that #RHOA may only select emerging socialites to join the cast instead of major celebrities.

In Shereé’s most recent IG post, she captioned, “SHE gets her way” and hashtagged “NoDiscountsGiven” sparking speculation that she successfully renegotiated her #RHOA contract.

Martell Holt shows Shereé Whitfield love on social media.

Fans are not only pondering Whitfield’s potential return to RHOA but also her romantic life. Whitfield’s ex, Holt, was seen commenting on a recent photo of the She by Shereé founder, according to a screenshot obtained by The Shade Room on April 23.

The Love & Marriage Huntsville star penned, “Mrs. Holt,” tagging a few fire emojis.

It’s unclear if the former lovebirds have re-ignited their romance following their breakup. In February, Whitfield confirmed that she was single in an interview with Page Six.

“Since I’ve been single, I have been working on myself a lot. I would like my partner to be serious and add value to my life in all aspects,” Whitfield shared at the time.

“This time around, I am looking for someone who is emotionally available and supportive.”

Whoa! What do you think is going on here?

#BWHM Magic Maker: ‘Pink Pants’ Coach Sydney Carter Talks Going Viral & WNBA Players’ Startling...

Hello Sunshine's Shine Away, Connected by AT&T

Source: Monica Schipper / Getty

For Black Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting Magic Makers who are leaving indelible marks in entrepreneurship, sports, and entertainment, and we think Coach Sydney Carter is a perfect fit.

The stylish Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development at the University of Texas has a storied career that includes playing overseas in the WNBA, being an NCAA champion, and Assistant Coaching at Texas A&M.

Now a proud Longhorn, she’s making waves not just for her stellar work but for her head-turning style.

Back in 2022, a picture of the coach during a breast cancer awareness game night went viral after people made disparaging remarks about her pastel pink pants, turtle neck, and heels that they deemed “unprofessional” and “distracting.”

Some even suggested that she should be fined over the outfit.

After racking up thousands of views on social media, the fashionista fired back and shook off the shade, telling GMA’s Deborah Roberts that she stood by her decision to honor her flair for fashion.

“I just know at the end of the day, I’m a Black woman and I can’t hide that,” said Carter. “Nor can I hide the fact that I look the way that I look in those pink pants, in particular. So I’m not going to try to do that to make someone else feel comfortable, because it’s what I feel comfortable in.”

Coach Carter recently echoed a similar sentiment to BOSSIP and said she was initially befuddled by the negative chatter but took the positive route and ignored the detractors.

“Initially, I was like, ‘Well, what’s distracting?! Because you can see my toenails and my nails? ‘Cause that’s the only thing that was out,” Carter told Managing Editor Dani Canada. “And so I immediately went into positive mode. I was just like, ‘You know what? I’m not paying attention to this.’ I’m legitimately not bothering anybody, I’ve always worn clothes to every game. This is probably one of the most simple outfits I’ve worn and I’m completely covered.

“So at this point, it’s clear that people are just offended by the fact that I’m curvy and I have the audacity, I guess, to show up with something that I can’t get rid of,” she added. “That’s all that was at the end of the day. People were just like, ‘How dare she stand with that much confidence and be on national TV or post this!'”

Truly centered in her feminism and authenticity, Carter added that this type of descension is something she’s dealt with as a curvy woman working in sports.

“The players come out in their tunnel fits and it’s cool for them, so why can’t I dress up for the office and the arena that I coach in?” said Carter. “It’s cool for men to wear designer [outfits] for games but with women, we got to please everybody all the time. Me dressing up or dressing down does not diminish the fact that  I still look like a woman. No one’s attacking men when they’re wearing their tuxedos or they’re wearing quarter zips and pants. They’re attacking women who are dressed up and just happen to be curvy.”

The athlete who’s loved the game of basketball since she was a toddler told BOSSIP that her love for fashion bloomed when she spruced up her school uniforms as a child by wearing her mother’s shoes. Now her eye for detail down to extravagant nail art is something she’s proud to showcase, detractors be damned.

“I was dressing up for games before that pink panks situation even happened,” said Carter. “Nobody was coming to games and I was still getting dressed for games. And so, you know, it was just a thing. I always want to put my best foot forward, I don’t feel like I want to go to a game and wear sweats or leggings and a quarter zip, that’s just not how I envision myself as a coach.
“I worked for a guy that believed in that, he was old school so he believed in dressing up,” she added. “He came up in that time where they were wearing tuxes to games and then everyone was dressing up. So I was just very fortunate that I worked for somebody that was like minded.”

Coach Sydney Carter Talks WNBA Player Salaries

Elsewhere in the interview, Coach Carter also spoke candidly about the low pay rate for WNBA players. As previously reported social media was shocked to see that Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese would be making $73,439 and $76,535 respectively in their first year in the league.

According to the coach selected in the third round of the 2012 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky, the same team that recruited Reese, it’s unsurprising considering the disparity in support of men’s basketball versus women’s.

“I think in so many different areas other than just sports, women just always having to do more with less,” she told BOSSIP. “I’m not sure why, but I think the argument with a lot of other people is our game is not fun enough. A lot of people don’t want to come support and see women play basketball; okay well what do you want to see women do? What’s going to satisfy you? But we’re not interested in asking that question because at the end of the day we’re good basketball players.

“We know that we are good, we know that our game is fun. We know we pour it in to being good at our sport just like women do all over the country in whatever they’re doing, we pour everything into being good at this. I really can’t answer why we’re underpaid, but hopefully that changes because we deserve more,” she added.

Coach Sydney Carter Defines Black Girl Magic As Authenticity In One’s Self

Before wrapping up her interview with BOSSIP, this Black Women’s History Month Magic Maker gave us her definition of #BlackGirlMagic.

I think Black girl magic is just walking in your own power and confidence,” said the stylish stunner. “You know, like embracing your blackness, embracing your womanliness, and embracing everything about you and your uniqueness. The magic is you. You’re the only person that can be yo, so that is your magic. That is your superpower,” she added.

“So live in that truth every day and you can’t worry about if you’re pleasing everybody or if everybody’s happy with this decision that you make. Just be strong and confident in everything that you do. To me, that’s the magic. You are the magic. “

We couldn’t agree more, coach!

Yeezus Take The Wheel: Kanye West Claims He’s ‘God’, Reportedly Plans To Open Yeezy Adult Film...

Rolling Loud California 2024

Source: Scott Dudelson / Getty

After calling himself “God” in a recent interview, Kanye West is reportedly somehow in talks to launch his Yeezy porn studio.

Kanye has returned from his brief hiatus following the release of Vultures 1 with TY Dolla $ign and his presence means that the shenanigans are coming in at 100 mph.

A large part of his return is centered around his exclusive interview with Justin LaBoy which fans receive access to if they purchase an item on Yeezy’s website.

Now according to Sportskeeda, it may have been worth the money to some, considering that they can watch Kanye label himself “God” who “runs the world.”

“We are the kingdom, and I’m the head of the kingdom,” said Kanye on The Download. “I am God; no one can suggest sh*t to me. Period. You can’t tell my daughter to say sh*t to me about Jesus. I’m going to tell you some sh*t- God runs the world. I am God. I run the world.”

These statements follow the Chicago rapper’s latest trend of second-guessing his devotion to Christ. According to Christian Post, in his now-deleted Big Boy interview, he revealed he has issues with Jesus and is focusing on taking matters into his own hands moving forward.

“I have my issues with Jesus,” West began during the interview, which lasted for over an hour. “There’s a lot of stuff I went through, and I prayed, and I ain’t see Jesus show up.”

Kanye went on to elaborate about why he wants to be in control.

“I had to put my experience in this world, my experience with my children, my experience with other people, my experience with my account, my experience with my brand and my experience with the level of music that I was dealing with, in my own hands.”

Ye has always made high-risk unpredictable moves, but his next move could be the most controversial.

TMZ reports that West’s reps said he has an idea for a pornography studio and it’s very likely to happen. Stormy Daniel’s former husband Mike Moz is alleged to be Kanye’s partner who’ll help him bring the vision to life. Moz is a veteran in the adult entertainment space and would have a huge task on his plate.

This all comes amid Kanye’s 2022 revelation that he has a porn addiction.

“Don’t let Kris make you do playboy like she made [Kylie] and Kim do,” PageSix reports he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Hollywood is a giant brothel Pornography destroyed my family I deal with the addiction Instagram promotes it Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago.”

Yeezus take the wheel, for real.

Megan Thee Stallion Calls Claims In Videographer’s Lawsuit Against Her ‘Salacious Accusations To...

Megan Thee Stallion and her lawyer have denied the new allegations against her in a lawsuit from a videographer she previously employed.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles earlier this week, videographer Emilio Garcia accused the rapper of fostering a toxic work environment. In his complaint, Garcia alleges that he was forced to watch Thee Stallion have sex with another woman during a tour stop in Ibiza, Spain in June 2022.

The Houston native’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, has responded to these claims in a statement to Page Six, shutting down Emilio’s story and writing off the claims as an attempt to “embarrass” the rapper.

“This is an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court,” Spiro told the publication.

Further on in his suit, Garcia claims he was forced to see the sexual encounter as he was unable to leave the moving vehicle at the time, saying he is traumatized by what he allegedly witnessed. He spoke to NBC News upon filing the lawsuit, saying, “I felt uncomfortable, I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked. At kind of just the overall audacity to do this right, right beside me.”

Garcia went on to claim in his complaint that as a result of the alleged incident, he has been dealing with several mental health issues, which include “mounting anxiety, depression, and physical distress.”

Not only does Garcia claim he had to watch the explicit encounter, but goes on the allege that the “WAP” rapper warned him, “Don’t ever discuss what you saw,” before retaliating against him with a pay cut.

According to Page Six, Emilio claims that Megan and her team changed his monthly rate of $4,000 to a “pay-per-task” system after the trip, which ultimately meant him earning “significantly less” money for his work.

The videographer’s accusations don’t stop there, he’s also claiming the TSU alum verbally abused him during his employment. On the same trip to Spain where he allegedly witnessed Megan’s sexual encounter, he claims the rapper fat-shamed him, referring to him as a “fat b***h” and telling him to “spit [his] food out.”

Having worked with Meg since 2018, Emilio was ultimately fired from his role as the rapper’s personal cameraman in June 2023. Garcia’s attorneys claimed to Page Six that his firing was “direct retaliation for his complaints about the ongoing illegal behavior and failure to pay him properly.”

Put On Blast: Surveillance Video Shows Corrections Officers Choking Inmate With Metal Chain

According to a lawsuit reported by CNN, Brunswick, Georgia was the scene of a federal civil rights violation at Appling County jail. 37-year-old Tremar Harris was seen in a 2022 surveillance video being choked with a chain while three corrections officers stood by watching.

Offcier William Rentz is said to have placed “the chain of an unused leg restraint” around Harris’ neck while he was restrained in a chair. Rentz subsequently pulled the chain against Harris’ neck and “strangled” him for approximately 4 seconds.

Warning, the following video is not graphic but it can be triggering. Please consider your mental health prior to viewing.

The three bystanding jailers are named in a separate lawsuit for failing to stop Rentz from abusing Harris.

Officers Daydan Brannon, Cannon Mcleod and Ansley Fennell failed to intervene or stop Rentz “from engaging in such an awful, unlawful, hateful, and sadistic act,” the lawsuit stated, saying the defendants “had the ability, opportunity, skill and time to prevent and immediately stop Officer Rentz from strangling the Plaintiff”

Rentz was ultimately fired over this incident but Appling County has not responded to a CNN inquiry about the job status of Brannon, Mcleod, and Fennell. Rentz is also facing criminal charges of violation of oath of office and battery that were filed in 2023

Rick Ross Promotes Annual Car Show In The Visual For His ‘Champagne Moments’ Drake Diss

When it comes to marketing, no one in hip-hop does it as well and as funny as Rick Ross. When he dropped his Drake diss “Champagne Moments” he responded to Drizzy in under two hours and went on a multi-day troll campaign calling out his alleged surgeries.

Rozay even hilariously dubbed Drake “BBL Drizzy” and probably got a chuckle from Drake himself because of its ridiculousness.

Now according to Complex, Rozay is back to continue trolling Drizzy in his official video for “Champagne Moments” all while shamelessly plugging all of his upcoming car shows.

That’s not all, Rick Ross is also promoting his liquor brands throughout the visual but stopped short of putting some Wingstop plates in the frames. That’s definitely a disappointing fumble.

Drake hasn’t responded to Ross in weeks, but this video might be the thing that makes him re-engage his former friend. With the long history between the Canadian and the Miami rapper hopefully, they can put this behind them and get back to collaborating.

Watch the official video for “Champagne Moments” below.

Brittney Griner Says She Had Suicidal Thoughts While In Russian Detainment–‘I Was Just So Scared’

Brittney Griner is opening up about the harrowing experience she had in Russia, from her February 2022 arrest to her nine-year prison sentence before her December 2022 release.

On May 1, viewers will be able to hear for the first time, a detailed first-hand account of the experiences, thoughts, and trauma suffered by the WNBA star who spent 10 months detained in a Russian prison over a minuscule amount of cannabis oil she was caught with at a Moscow airport.

ABC News recently released a trailer of the 33-year-old’s appearance on Good Morning America and a special edition of 20/20.

“I was just so scared for everything because there’s so much unknown,” Griner told GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts.

The trailer shows Roberts asking Griner—who pleaded guilty to drug charges in July 2022, two months after the U.S. classified her as “wrongfully detained“—about what she felt on Feb. 15, 2022, at the moment she was instructed to reach into her bag at the Russian airport and she felt the cartridges of hashish oil in her luggage.

“My life is over right here,” Griner said of her thoughts in that moment.

According to PEOPLE, viewers will also hear Griner’s recollection of  conditions she faced while inside Russia’s infamous penal colony, which she describes as making her feel “less than a human.” Those conditions, according to Griner, included a prison mattress that “had a huge blood stain on it” and that she was made to live with “no soap,” and  “no toilet paper.”

The nine-time WNBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist also talked to Robers about experiencing suicidal thoughts and actually having a readily available knife that would help her carry out those suicidal impulses.

The 20/20 special, titled “Prisoner in Russia: The Brittney Griner Interview,” will also feature interviews with Griner’s wife Cherelle Griner, her agent Lindsay Kagawa Colas, and Special Presidential Envoy of Hostage Affairs Roger Carstens, and it will air just six days before the May 7 release of her memoir revolving around her detainment in Russia, titled Coming Home.

Even from behind bars Suge Knight expressed his feelings about Drake using AI 2pac for his Kendrick Lamar diss “Taylor Made Freestyle”.

While hip-hop fans are enjoying the recent beefs some people are not as pleased with the tactics being used in the war. Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That” targeting Drake and J. Cole has spawned several responses and responses to those responses. Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” has the internet split down the middle about his use of A. I Tupac and Snoop Dogg.

According to Complex, during his podcast Collect Call With Suge Knight the former mogul revealed his feelings on the track.

“Young people do what young people do. It’s y’all turn, but regarding the homie ‘Pac, he wasn’t no chump,” Knight said. “Putting him on a song and dissing Kendrick for everybody entertainment–that ain’t how it go.”

After declaring his issue with Pac being used, he reveals the exact issue with the track that surprised many fans. Suge claims putting Pac and Snoop on the same track was the part that wasn’t “a good look.”

“Then putting him on a song with Snoop, who was a part of his downfall and exit, ain’t ever a good look,” Knight added. “‘Pac was a king on that chessboard. He never was a pawn, so he can’t make him be a pawn now.”

While Snoop Dogg played clueless about any involvement in the track people have pondered how the family of Shakur felt. According to TMZ, 2Pac’s brother Morpheme Shakir thinks Pac was “weaponized” and wants the beef to stay between the two rappers. When Drake released “Taylor Made Freestyle” he promised to kick the dust up so Kendrick couldn’t avoid the confrontation.

We think it’s safe to say he succeeded and his use of Pac’s voice will keep the conversation going.
