My favorite show.

Freddie Gibb’s been on his grizzly for a hot minute and though he’s often overlooked in favor of commercial rappers and flavor of the month artists, his recently released project Bandana has been garnering him praise as his best piece of work to date.

Riding high on the release of his latest album, the Hip-Hop veteran sat down for a quick interview with your favorite Hip-Hop morning show and had no qualms about getting into a bevy of subjects and turned as entertaining an interview as you’ll hear today.

From explaining how he got locked up in Austria because of a dream a white woman had about him to opening up about his desire to sign with 50 Cent, Gangsta Gibbs is answers all questions thrown at him with no hairs on his tongue.

Here are the 6 things we learned from Freddie Gibbs on The Breakfast Club.

1. Spike Lee

Freddie Gibb’s says when he said “f*ck Spike” Lee for his depiction of Malcolm X on “Flat Tummy Tea” he says was joking. “I like Spike Lee.” He does say some Muslims he knows do have issues with Spike Lee’s classic biopic film.

R. Kelly isn’t going anywhere. A judge ruled today (July 16) that the accused child sexual predator will be held without bond as he awaits federal trial.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, prosecutors described the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer as “an extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls” during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

The prosecutors also made sure to point out the extreme risk of Kelly obstructing justice. Part of the new charges he was hit with include allegations of paying off the families of accusers so they wouldn’t cooperate with the authorities.

Kelly’s lawyer went with the there’s no way his client can flee because he’s broke play. “Unlike his most famous song — ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ — Mr. Kelly doesn’t like to fly,” Greenberg reportedly said.

Well, the judge wasn’t having it. Kelly is currently being held in Chicago’s downtown Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Right now, R. Kelly is facing 18 charges in Brooklyn and Chicago for various alleged crimes involving minors, including 10 victims. R. Kelly was acquitted of child pornography in 2008.

The Game has largely avoided paying off a massive $7 million judgment in a sexual assault matter involving a contestant of his now-defunct VH1 reality series, She Got Game. Although Priscilla Rainey was denied seizure of Game’s royalties this past April, it appears now she will have access to those monies until the judgment is fully settled.

The Blast reports:

A judge has ordered that rapper The Game won’t see a dime of his music royalties until a $7 million judgment is paid off.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Los Angeles judge granted a motion brought by Priscilla Rainey, which will allow her to collect any money that comes in for The Game from his record label or royalties paid to him.

In essence, all money that Game will be paid from Sound Exchange and the Entertainment One label will be seized until the debt is settled.

On the eve of the five-year anniversary of the death of Eric Garner, the NYPD officer who applied the fatal chokehold will not face federal charges. Daniel Pantaleo will avoid the charges on the world of Attorney General William Barr.

NBC News reports:

The Justice Department on Tuesday concluded its five-year investigation and will not bring civil rights or criminal charges against NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was seen in the video with his arm around Garner’s neck.

According to a senior Justice Department official, Attorney General William Barr made the final decision not to charge Pantaleo, choosing to follow the recommendations of Brooklyn prosecutors.

However, attorneys in the Civil Rights Division thought charges could have been filed, according to two DOJ officials.

The decision not to pursue charges comes one day before the fifth anniversary of Garner’s death, which was also the deadline for charges to be filed.

Garner, 43, who was asthmatic, was being arrested for allegedly selling untaxed, loose cigarettes. His death on July 17, 2014, sparked national outrage and protests. The phrase “I can’t breathe” — which he said 11 times during his arrest — became a rallying cry for police reform.

Pantaleo is still the focus of a disciplinary investigation by the department and NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill has the final say on if the officer keeps his job.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Ex-Manager Takes Plea Deal For Role In Restaurant Rumble

While Jim Jones might want Tekashi “Henry Hill” 6ix9ine‘s name in Hip-Hop history erased for good, the feds might one day put the Dummy Boy rapper’s government on a plaque when it’s all said and done.

After helping authorities pin charges on a gang of his old accomplices, the “Gummo” rapper seems to have struck again. Page Six is reporting that 6ix9ine’s old manager Kifano “Shottie” Jordan has taken a plea deal in connection with the assault of a security guard during a scuffle at the Philippe Chow restaurant in New York City last year.

Kifano Jordan — aka “Shottie” — copped to one count of second-degree assault in exchange for time served.

On Oct. 26, 2018, Jordan headed to the Madison Avenue restaurant to celebrate Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, scoring a probation-only sentence for a child sex charge earlier that day in Manhattan Criminal Court.

But restaurant security wouldn’t admit Tekashi’s crew and a melee ensued, with Jordan cracking a chair over the guard’s head. The guard whipped out a licensed pistol and shot Jordan twice.

While this is a lowercase “w” for Jordan it’s still not helping him in the grand scheme of things as he’s still facing 15 years in prison for firearm charges he caught for a non-lethal armed robbery in Manhattan earlier this year.

Tekashi 6ix9ine meanwhile is rumored to be getting out of prison as early as next year as a result of his full cooperation with authorities. It’ll be interesting to see how he’s received by his legion of fans when he gets out.

Saturday (July 13) parts of Manhattan was hit by a blackout that left some New Yorkers feeling like it was 2003 all over again. Over the weekend, Cardi B, Offset, friends, and family didn’t let the power shutting off while celebrating their daughter, Kulture’s 1st birthday party ruin the moment.

Cardi and her husband made sure the party remained lit despite it being impacted by the power outage that saw a large area of NYC go dark. Cardi took to her favorite social media medium, Instagram to thank friends and family for helping to turn what could have been a significant negative into a positive.

The fact that I wanted my daughter party in 42nd street instead of Jersey and to my fucking luck New York had a power outage right on that Deum area!!BITCH THE DEVIL! 😒😒😒😒😒but WOW how a negative situation turn into a LITUATION !!!”
When the lights went it out, the crowd stuck around with the power returning just in time for the cake cutting ceremony. Offset shared videos of the now 1-year-old ceremoniously sitting in a pile of colorful birthday cake while surrounded by guests. Cardi took time out of her day to praise those who powered through having to deal with no air conditioning and other stressful conditions that could have seriously made the special day a logistical nightmare.

This will definitely make for a great story to tell Kulture when she gets older. Happy belated birthday Kulture.

Nicki Minaj Teases A Fendi Collab on The Gram

There was a time when a Hip-Hop artist collaborating popular clothing brands was considered a huge deal, but nowadays it feels such ventures for rap stars have become the status and now it seems like Nicki Minaj may be the latest to get in on the practice.

Recently the Queen rapper got people thinking that she’s working on a collaboration collection with Fendi when she took to IG to pose in some spiffy pink Fendi gear while captioning “All I’ll say is dreams really do come true,” and “Coming Soon.” While she didn’t outright say it was a Nicki Minaj/Fendi collection, it certainly seems like she’s hinting at the possibility of such a project.

If the collaboration proves to be a thing it couldn’t come a better time for the Pinkprint artist who’s readying the release of her next album and should it drop at the same time as a Nicki Minaj Fendi collection, she could truly be on top of the world on some next ish.

Would you be willing to shell out a few G’s on a Nicki/Fendi outfit? Let us know in the comments below.

LAPD Reportedly Still Investigating Nipsey Hussle & Associates For Gang Ties

Los Angeles Police Still Investigating Nipsey Hussle & Associates

The world is still grieving the tragic loss of the philanthropist/entrepreneur/rapper Nipsey Hussle since he was murdered back on March 31. While fans from all over are still screaming “The Marathon Continues,” the LAPD is reportedly following that with the investigation still continues.

According to a New York Times report, LA authorities, and the city attorney’s office are still investigating whether or not the strip mall location that was the home of the late rapper’s Marathon clothing store was ground zero for “gang activity.”

The Times also reports, the investigation began before his death, and his murder apparently encouraged investigators to push on to prevent other acts of violence on the property.

Per The New York Times:

According to the city authorities and others briefed on the matter, they had an open investigation into Hussle, his property and his business associates to determine whether the strip mall at the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue was a hub of gang activity.

The investigation into Hussle’s empire, which the city has not publicized, continues in the wake of the killing, raising the possibility that the city will take action against the rapper’s remaining business partners. As part of the investigation, the city pressured Hussle’s former landlords to evict the rapper and his associates. Instead, the landlords sold the property earlier this year to Hussle and a group of investors for $2.5 million, according to public records.

City Council member, Marquees Harris-Dawson revealed he has been working for years to get the details on the investigation on Hussle’s behalf.

His alleged killer, Eric Holder, has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder, plus possession of a firearm by a felon.  He pleaded not guilty but was later indicted by a grand jury during a May 9 court appearance, Holder is still awaiting trial.
