Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

Bullet Brak – Rhyme Affiliated (feat. Papoose)”

 

Bullet Brak and Papoose are “Rhyme Affiliated” in their new collaborative tune which also coms with a solid visual representation. As the title suggests, it’s a showcase of lyrical prowess over menacing beats and lovers of pure unadulterated hip-hop will love it.

 

V Knuckles x Tom Siletto – “Daylight” prod. by Phoniks Beats.

Cambridge, MA’s own V Knuckles drops the visuals for his latest single “Daylight” featuring the vocal stylings of singer Tom Siletto and a soulful backdrop provided by Phoniks Beats. The heartfelt tune sees V Knuckles pouring adulations on his significant other and sharing how he values his wife and son over everything. The visuals shot by Chow Films give viewers a glimpse into a day in the life of V Knuckles and his family

 

BurrLin x Marie Monti – “GANANDO”.

“GANANDO” is a lovely blend of Urban Latin and Drill elements as NY rapper/songwriter BurrLin collaborates with Latin Pop Star, Marie Monti for a song about winning in life and prospering. Over the smooth punchy soundscape, the rapper takes us down the road of a man walking his way up and the many hurdles he has to jump over. Marie Monti complements the track with her sultry melodic vocals performed in Spanish and English.

Blacksmith – “Pass By”

UK veteran emcee BlackSmith returns with the visuals for the song “Pass By”, a soulful collaboration with singer Sydney Bryce and producer Jackie Marua. The record is a reflective tune that sees BlackSmith digging deep looking for answers in this unforgiving world while dodging all the snares and traps laid before him.  The visual is solemn and makes use of several performance shots and visually gripping cut scenes.

 

Fungai – “Relationships101”.

Fungai‘s new release “relationships101” is a heartfelt tune that explores the fundamentals of building relationships and the ups and downs that come with it. Bolstered by a soulful and sombre backdrop, Fungai takes time to reflect on the good and bad elements that make up a fruitful relationship and realizes that it’s not all fun and games but it takes two people to put in the necessary work. The Natasha aka unslept directed video was shot during the actual making of the song itself and viewers get to see uncut footage of Fungai and Sir augie in bounce studios.

 

Diamond D – The Wrong Thing (feat. Ashtin Martin)”.

 

Legendary rapper/producer Diamond D help us close out the list with the new video for “The Wrong Thing”. The soulful tune is a classic love tale so many of us know all too well, and the living rap legend brings the story to life in these cinematic visuals that he co-directed with Reemo Films. The track stems from D’s latest record, 2022’s dope The Rear View, and it serves as the soundtrack for a short film about a very specific type of heartbreak. “It’s the story of a man who found love with a good woman but ultimately ruins the relationship by neglecting her,” D explains. Realizing what he’s done, He tries to win her back at all costs by giving her everything she deserves, from gifts to nights out on the town. And while “The Wrong Thing” already hits hard enough with D’s storytelling bars and scene-setting, it’s made that much more potent thanks to Ashtin Martin’s strong guest vocals on the hook.
