A shooting in Memphis has left two people dead, including a young rapper on the rise according to accounts from loved ones. Mendenhall Mendenhall and one other person were shot and killed in front of a local Valero location, and a 20-year-old suspect has been arrested.

Local outlet WREG reports that Mendenhall Mendenhall, real name Donterrius Johnson, was apparently the victim of being at the wrong place and the wrong time. Johnson was exiting the store when the other slain individual, an unnamed juvenile, was reportedly driving a stolen Chevy Camero that was owned by suspect Noah Jones, who opened fire and struck Johnson and the juvenile.

Friends contend that Johnson was not involved in the theft of the vehicle and that he truly was on the path of becoming a full-time recording artist.

Buck Nasty, a producer signed to Warner Chappell Music and a Memphis native, said to the outlet, “He was a great guy, a great guy to work with. I did record with him a few times. He was very energetic and professional.”

The shooting took place around 10 p.m. local time on Wednesday (April 14) and a vigil of around 300 to 400 people showed up at the Valero to pay their respects to Johnson. His age has not been reported.

In a recent report from the Associated Press, a Memphis rapper by the name of Big Boogie was arrested with 23 others in a caravan in connection with a highway shooting in Mississipi. The city itself has seen a rise in homicides in 2021, alarming local officials

Jones faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of reckless endangerment.

Nike Starts A Refurbished Program For Used Kicks

It was bound to happen. Nike has officially become resellers…well, kinda.

Nike Refurbished

Source: Nike / NIke

In an effort to lessen their waste footprint on the earth, the Swoosh brand has started a program that will be taking used sneakers, refurbishing them, and putting them back on shelves for a price. Nike Refurbished will be giving people the chance to return lightly worn sneakers for cash after which Nike will inspect the kicks, clean them up by hand, and given an inspection grade before being put back out on the streets.

Handy messaging on the boxes make it easy to see what kind of shoes are inside, the condition grade, and more. With a simple scan of the box’s QR code, customers can check out even more information about Nike Move to Zero.

Customers have 60 days to decide whether they want a refund on their recently purchased Nike footwear, but don’t think you can return a dogged out pair of Air Force 1’s or running shoes or something. The kicks have to be lightly worn and factory defective for you to get your money back. Those kicks that are coming apart at the seams can be donated or recycled back to Nike where they’ll become a part of Nike Grind which breaks down old kicks to use in new merchandise.

We have a feeling Nike won’t ever be seeing a pair of Travis Scott or Off-White’s returned. Just sayin.’

As of right now only 15 Nike stores across the US are participating in the program but best believe that number will only continue to grow as time goes by and people choose to the responsible thing for our earth.

Props to Nike for taking this initiative to make our world a better place.

Now, fix the SNKRS app and keep bots from eating, b.

AR-Ab Sentenced To 45 Years For Running Drug Ring With Murder Ties

Source: @ar_ab_32 / Instagram

AR-Ab may be regretting putting too much of his life down in the studio. On Thursday (Apri 16), the Philadelphia rapper was sentenced to 45 years in prison for his role in a drug ring, and his own words were used against him in court.

Reports the Philadelphia Inquirer:

A federal judge sentenced the 38-year-old rapper — whose legal name is Abdul West — to 45 years in prison, a staggering sentence for the tough-talking kingpin convicted in 2019 of turning the record label he founded, Original Block Hustlaz (OBH), into a large-scale North Philadelphia drug-trafficking organization implicated in at least one murder.

But while prosecutors alleged West had ordered the 2017 slaying of a drug-world rival, they did not charge him with that crime, and U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson repeatedly stressed Thursday that it wasn’t a consideration in his sentence.

AR-Ab was actually found guilty of running the drug ring back in 2019. Recently, he insisted that it wasn’t an interview with DJ Vlad that got him jammed up by the Feds as many speculated.

But throughout his trial prosecutors used his lyrics and social media posts against him, trying to pin hits on him. which he denies, and proposing his violent bars were a form of intimidation against his rivals.

Nevertheless, in court, AR-Ab, born Abdul West, insisted the Feds were misconstruing his lyrics.

“The court, the FBI agents, and the prosecutors don’t understand my culture,” AR-Ab reportedly said. “We don’t rap about flowers and rainbows. We’re gangsta rappers. We rap about where we grew up. So we rap about drug dealing. We rap about violence.”

AR-Ab reportedly plans to appeal.

Shooting At Indianapolis FedEx Leave 8 Dead, Including Domestic Terrorist

Source: JEFF DEAN / Getty

A mass shooting event at an Indianapolis FedDex warehouse facility has left eight people dead, including the shooter, with five others injured. The details of the shooting are still developing as investigators determine what exactly happened in the event.

Local outlet WTHR reports that the incident took place late Thursday (April 15) evening just after 11 PM local time at the FedEx just across the way from the Indianapolis International Airport. Reporters from the NBC affiliate spoke with witnesses that were on the scene who shared what they experienced during the horrific moment.

“I’m at a bench and so I stand up and take a look at the entrance door and by the time I see the door, I see a man come out with a rifle in his hand and he starts firing and he starts yellin’ stuff that I could not understand,” Levi Miller said to 13News. “What I ended up doing was ducking down to make sure he did not see me because I thought he would see me and he would shoot me.”

Family members of the shooting victims gathered at a Holiday Inn located near the FedEx building and told the outlet that because FedEx permits workers from having their phones on the floor, they haven’t been able to reach their loved ones.

FedEx tweeted out a now-deleted statement regarding the shooting.

“We are aware of the tragic shooting at our FedEx Ground facility near the Indianapolis airport. Safety is our top priority, and our thoughts are with all those who are affected. We are working to gather more information and are cooperating with investigating authorities,” the tweet read.

The company has since published a repeated statement Friday Morning.

In recent weeks, mass shooting events have occurred across the nation and have reignited the debate over gun control laws and the like. The incidents in Georgia and Colorado were senseless acts that upended entire communities and inflamed talks that access to firearms go under a more rigorous process for purchasing among other suggested methods of curbing instances such as these.

Should new details emerge, we will return with updates to this tragic story. Our condolences to the friends and family of the victims.

HHW Gaming: This Looming Issue Has PS3 & PS4 Owners Extremely Worried

Gamers Express Concern About Potential PS3 & PS4 Internal Timing Issue

Source: SOPA Images / Getty

Not all gamers have moved to the next generation by copping a PS5 and are still gaming on the PS4, but a worrisome issue has folks concerned.
Inside your PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 are internal timing systems that could present a huge issue by making your PS4 games and all downloaded PS3 games unplayable on current hardware.

The looming issue has been the talk of PlayStation and hacking circles for some time now, but it has recently picked up steam again after the recent announcement of only shutting down online stores for PSP, PS Vita PS3 online stores. Gamers are pointing out it’s just a matter of when this potential problem will rear its ugly head. The issue won’t affect your ability to play and re-download previously purchased games for now. Still, it could become a much larger issue due to the shutdown of PSN servers on older PlayStation consoles and could affect many games.

So what is the issue exactly? Inside your PS3 and PS4 is a CMOS battery that helps your console keep up with the current time even when it’s powered off or unplugged. If that battery dies or happens to be removed, the console will an internal flag raised by the system’s firmware indicating it might be out of sync.

To correct the issue, the system will check with PSN the next time to ensure the time is correct. On the PS3, this check is done when you play a game downloaded from the PlayStation Store. On the PS4, it happens when you play a game installed from the disc. This check has to be done at least once, even if the batter has been replaced, so the console confirms clock consistency.

The timer check serves different purposes on both consoles. On the PS3, it’s done to enforce “time limits” that might have been placed on digital purchases. That same check is even required for downloads that don’t even have an expiration date adding a one-time online check-in requirement for consoles after the internal batteries fail.

On the PS4, the timing check is used to ensure PSN trophy data is registered accurately, preventing players from pretending to acquire trophies earlier than they had.

As of right now, this isn’t an issue, and most batteries CMOS batter in consoles average a 10- to 20-year lifespan, but if you happen to own an older PS3 model, time is slowly running out. It’s not an easy fix to do on your own, but Sony could remedy it with a firmware update.

The company has been mum on that front, but a lot of PlayStation owners could be stuck with a useless library of games if they fail to act.
