In the state capital of Jackson in Mississippi, five Black strippers were awarded $3.3 million in a workplace discrimination case. The women argued that their working conditions were far worse than that of their white counterparts.

The Independent reports:

Five African-American strippers have been awarded more than $3m (£2.36m) by a Mississippi jury after a judge ruled the women were forced to work in worse conditions than their white colleagues.

The women were awarded the damages following a year-long case against Danny’s Downtown Cabaret in Jackson, the state’s capital, which was sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

The commission, which challenges workplace discrimination, said the club limited when black women could work and fined them $25 when they missed a shift. It alleged the white strippers were not subjected to those fines and were given flexible schedules.

The club was also accused of forcing black strippers to work at another Jackson establishment with lower pay and worse security, while Danny’s manager allegedly used a racial slur against a black dancer.

The lawyer for Danny’s is hoping to get the award reduced and if that effort fails, he promised to file an appeal.

Nike Drops The Ball On Their Newest Puerto Rico Inspired Air Force 1

Nike Air Force 1

Seems like Nike just caught an L. Just a few weeks after the debacle that was the Travis Scott rollout on the SNKRS app, Nike is catching new heat on social media for their latest Puerto Rico inspired Air Force 1 which features a design that doesn’t exactly represent anything Puerto Rican.

Latinos in general, maybe, but not specifically Borinquen culture.

LINK IN BIO: Yo, they had one damn job. SMDH 🤦🏽‍♂️

A post shared by HOUSE OF HEAT (@houseofheat) on

DJ Clark Kent was quick to point out that the design resembled a Panamanian art form known as Mola that although originates from a Latino country, is not in any way connected to Puerto Rico.

Whether the backlash will cause Nike to cancel the release of these joints remains to be seen but don’t be surprised if that actually turns out to be the case. Their past Puerto Rican inspired 1’s have been pretty dope with the way they would utilize the island’s flag and its colors to capture that Borinquen steez. These new joints though, they ain’t it, chief.

Check out some OG Puerto Rican AF1’s below and let us know your thoughts on Nike’s latest snafu.

A soul singer from the ’60s is angling for a big payday after bringing a lawsuit against Virginia producer Timbaland for sampling one of his tracks for a pair of songs. Ernie Hines filed a $2 million lawsuit against Timbaland, who used the original recording to create songs for Jay-Z and Ginuwine separately.

The Blast reports:

81-year-old Ernie Hines filed a lawsuit, obtained by The Blast, against Jay-Z, Timbaland, Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Recordings, Universal Music Group and Sony Music.

Hines, a soul musician from Jackson, Mississippi, says he’s the co-author and composer of the 1969 song, “Help Me,” which was sampled on both Jay-Z’s “Paper Chase” from the Hard Knock Life album, and Ginuwine’s 1999 song, “Toe 2 Toe.”

Timbaland produced both tracks, and the document notes that “Toe 2 Toe” has sold over “2 million copies.”

Hines’ attorney, Christopher Brown, writes that his client is a “senior citizen, does not listen to rap music and was unaware” that the songs contained his music and composition.

Thus far, it appears that Timbaland has not publicly responded to Hines’ lawsuit claims.

Walking Wanted Poster Kodak Black Linked To March Shooting By Feds

The Feds got their sights on Kodak Black. The Florida rapper has reportedly been linked to a March shooting via his fingerprints, amongst other evidence.

And it’s all related to that gun purchase application where Kodak allegedly lied.

Reports TMZ:

Prosecutors say Kodak bought 3 weapons and more than 100 rounds of ammo back in February from Lou’s Police Distributors — a federal firearms licensee in Hialeah, Florida. That purchase, prosecutors allege, was facilitated after Kodak lied on a January gun application.

Kodak dropped $3,518.71 for a Mini Draco pistol, Sig MPX K 9mm pistol and Sig P238 .380 pistol.

On March 7, prosecutors say, a Porsche Panamera rented by Kodak was in Golden Acres a neighborhood in Pompano Beach, where he grew up during a shooting. The feds say the intended target was a rival rapper, who was not hit but whose house — filled with kids — was littered with bullets. No one was hit.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and found several spent castings and the MPX K Kodak bought in February. Prosecutors say the weapon had Kodak’s fingerprints and a live round in the chamber that jammed during the shooting.

Prosecutors also say cops found the Porsche abandoned 14 miles from the scene of the crime and heavily damaged. The SUV’s GPS data was then downloaded … pinpointing the SUV in the Golden Acres neighborhood at the time of the shooting.

Kodak’s lawyer maintains that his client was not at the scene and that the feds have not told him that fingerprints were found.

When the Feds start sniffing around, it’s just a matter of time. Ask Tekashi69.

Also worth noting, this doesn’t even have anything to do with Kodak Black’s sexual assault case in South Carolina.

Mother Of Nipsey Hussle’s Daughter Has Outstanding Arrest Warrant

Tanisha Foster, the mother of one of Nipsey Hussles children, has been locked in a custody battle with the late rapper’s family. As that case heats up, it’s come out that Foster has an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from a 2017 DUI charge.

TMZ reports:

Tanisha Foster was busted for DUI in Los Angeles a couple years back. She pled no contest to one of the charges and was sentenced to 3 years probation. Foster missed a court date for the case on May 15 — her probation was revoked — and a bench warrant was issued.

The DUI arrest isn’t the only thing on Foster’s record … in 2007 she was busted for vandalism, annoying phone calls and disturbing the peace. Those charges were eventually dismissed after she completed her probation. In 2006, she was arrested for resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.

The arrest warrant comes in the middle of a nasty back and forth with Tanisha and Nipsey’s brother and sister. Nipsey’s siblings are asking for custody of his 10-year-old daughter, Emani, claiming Tanisha isn’t a stable parent.

It isn’t immediately known if the warrant will have an impact on Foster’s chances in getting her daughter back.

Black Billionaire Pledges To Pay Off Student Loans For Morehouse College Graduating Class

On Sunday (May 19), the graduating class of Morehouse College got quite a surprise when billionaire investor Robert F. Smith spoke during the commencement and said he’s paying off their student loans. Smith, who is the richest Black person in America, yes, even richer than Oprah Winfrey, has pledged much of his significant wealth similarily in the past.

WXIA reports:

Graduation keynote speaker Robert F. Smith, philanthropist and investor, speaking to the graduating class of Morehouse men of 2019, proudly announced Sunday morning that he was going to eliminate all of their student loan debt.

“My family is going to create a grant to eliminate your student loans,” Smith said to the graduating seniors. “You great Morehouse men are bound only by the limits of your own conviction and creativity.”

A Morehouse official told 11Alive News the gift was worth about $40 million.

“When Dr. King said that the ‘arc of the moral universe bends toward justice,’ he wasn’t saying it bends on its own accord. It bends because we choose to put our shoulders into it together and push,” Smith said during the speech.

How amazing was that?

Foxy Brown Gets Booed Off Stage In NYC, DJ Plays Lil Kim Instead

Last night (May 18) was not a good one for Foxy Brown. The Brooklyn rapper resoundingly got booed off the stage while performing at Xscape singer and Real Housewife of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss’  Dungeon Tour stop in NYC.

It went down at Terminal 5, where Fox Boogie surely planned to turn up at the burlesque show. However, poor sound quality and a less than energetic performance caused the boo birds to come out. Also, she was barely keeping up with her own lyrics (note: it wasn’t even the instrumentals playing, it was the actual songs).

But let’s not forget, Foxy Brown is at least partially death.

Kandi can be heard saying “Y’all gotta respect my girl…” as she was escorted off the stage, to even louder boos. To add insult to struggle’ry, the DJ started playing Lil Kim’s “The Jump Off.”

And of course, there’s video. A lot of it. All bad.

DJ Khaled just dropped a new album, Father of Asahd, and continued his promo run as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night. But the Miami producer/DJ used to his platform to big up the late, great Nipsey Hussle, with assistance from John Legend and more.

It was the season finale, and besides Legend, Khaled brought out a gang of guests. For his first performance, the Instagram Legend performed “Jealous” with Lil Wayne and Big Sean and since it was a medley, Jeremih, Meek Mill, Lil Baby and J Balvin came out for “You Stay.”

The second performance include SZA kicking “Just Us” and Meek Mill rocking “Weather The Storm.” And then, Legend was revealed on the keys—performing “Higher” with Legend on the keys and Nip’s image in the back, and on Khaled Khaled’s hoodie.

Peep the Nipsey tribute below. The Marathon continues.

Rapper DaBaby’s Weed Carriers Bless Fan With The Fade [Video]

Source: Leon Prevost / Radio One Houston

Note to fans who want to get all up in DaBaby’s personal space for a flick—do not. A particular admirer learned this the hard way after the rapper’s entourage (aka weed carries, probably) blessed him with the fade.

Apparently, the fan asked for a flick, and didn’t take no for an answer.

Reports TMZ:

The North Carolina-bred MC was all set to take the stage Friday night at Centro Nightclub in Lawrence, MA — where he was headlining.  DB never made it in the building ’cause his security team and entourage were too busy beating some guy to a pulp outside … according to Derek Lemire, who was promoting the event for NTS Entertainment.

We’re told the fan wanted a photo with DaBaby, but got turned down. When the dude persisted by asking again, Lemire says he got swarmed by DB’s posse … and took a severe beating.

You can see DaBaby looking on nearby as the dude gets thrashed. He’s wearing his signature “KIRK” chain that he’s always wearing on stage and social media. We’re told the fan was carried away by stretcher and taken to the hospital.

Of course, there is footage and the “fan” can be seen catching the hands and feet as big burly security guard holds him in a dope fiend headlock.

DaBaby can probably bank on getting sued, shortly. However, reportedly there was a provision in the rapper’s contract that allowed him to bail if he wasn’t feeling safe (he never performed).

Peep the fade delivery below.
